Should They Or Shouldn’t They?
The Wallingford Board of Education has been recently been discussing about whether or not to do drug testing on our student athletes and others in extra-curricular activities. Many of the students of the community say they should not do these drug testing, and maybe their parents agree. Though, to the Board of Education, they say they should. So the question is… Should the Board be allowed to do these test or should it be crossed out of the question?
In my personal opinion is that I both agree and disagree. I agree, they should do the test just in case because some of the parents involved do not know what there kids do and there out of school activities. They may not know what their children are doing, and whether they are taking drugs or not. You’re child could be in serious trouble and could get kick off the team. Drugs can stay in your body for a long time, and the school can see if you’re on drugs. You can’t wash out the drugs, and it is dangerous.
Though, I disagree, they shouldn’t because the parents are involved not just the people in the school. The parents are looking out for their children. They are the ones that should decide. The Board of Education can not just say that we are doing drug tests, and that’s final. The parents deserve a say in the argument, their jobs are to protect us from harm like that and they should make sure that the school should do things that won’t harm the students and their health. So in my opinion the Board has no right to do this only with parental consult and the students should have a say, because some could agree and disagree.
