Should They Or Shouldn’t They?

The Wallingford Board of Education  has been recently been discussing about whether or not to do drug testing on our student athletes and others in extra-curricular activities. Many of the students of the community say they should not do these drug testing, and maybe their parents agree. Though, to the Board of Education, they say they should. So the question is… Should the Board be allowed to do these test or should it be crossed out of the question?

In my personal opinion is that I both agree and disagree. I agree, they should do the test just in case because some of the parents involved do not know what there kids do and there out of school activities. They may not know what their children are doing, and whether they are taking drugs or not. You’re child could be in serious trouble and could get kick off the team. Drugs can stay in your body for a long time, and the school can see if you’re on drugs. You can’t wash out the drugs, and it is dangerous.

Though, I disagree, they shouldn’t because the parents are involved not just the people in the school. The parents are looking out for their children. They are the ones that should decide. The Board of Education can not just say that we are doing drug tests, and that’s final. The parents deserve a say in the argument, their jobs are to protect us from harm like that and they should make sure that the school should do things that won’t harm the students and their health. So in my opinion the Board has no right to do this only with parental consult and the students should have a say, because some could agree and disagree.

What Is Not To Be Afraid?

Why are we afraid? What is the meaning of afraid? What is there to be afraid of? That is the question. What would you, me, or the world do if we are not afraid?

If I wasn’t afraid, I would do things I would have never done before. I would probably jump out of a plane. Though since I am afraid of heights (especially very high heights) I would never have the courage to do such a thing. I would also like to be the CEO of Microsoft Corporation. I have always wanted to be the boss, though then I would have everything coming down on my shoulders, having to deal with a HUGE responsibility on keeping the company running and in tip-top shape. If I was not afraid I would say things to people I would usually keep to myself, because I would not care of the feed-back given to me. If I wasn’t afraid. These things might come to reality, only if I wasn’t afraid.

New Query: Why are we afraid and is there a reason that we keep these fears to ourselves?

There are many things that make us afraid. Of grades, peer-pressure, bullies, and others that we keep contained to ourselves. They are our personal insecurities. Many people may not have a single insecurities. For example, I personally have a lot of them, including being afraid of insects and spiders, afraid that I could be hurt in a single minute when I least expect it. We all have them, though I am not afraid to say them, and you shouldn’t be either. It is better to say them out loud, then keep it bottled inside of you. Some of which could be very personal but, there is nothing to be afraid of. You could tell a friend, family member, or a person you can trust. Though, if the world and other people such as our friends and family had no fears, we would look the same, talk the same, and none of us would have a separate personality. Our insecurities make us all unique. We should be proud of them. They make you special knowing that you may be the only one like that, and you may feel bad about it, but you shouldn’t. Many of my friends trust me with their feelings and insecurities because they know I’m there to listen. They come to me and I know that, that’s something that makes them feel unique and different from the people around them.

A true friend

You’re here till the end

You pull me aside

When something ain’t right

Talk with me now and into the night

‘Til it’s alright again

You’re a true friend

The World Wide Web With One-Web Day!

On the 22nd of September is One-Web Day. The day when people come together and celebrate the world wide web. Though some people were around before the world wide web was invented 30 years ago. I interview my parents and my great-grand-father and they told me what the world was like before the world wide web.

Questions-

  • What did you spend in your free time without the world wide web?
  • Was it harder or better having the Internet around?
  • What in your lifetime is much easier to do with the Internet now?
  • How often do you come across the Internet?

Mom~

  • Reading books, visiting the library, play with friends, study for school
  • Much easier, lots of fast and exact information
  • Find information online
  • Everyday use

Dad~

  • Loved playing outside with his friends, read many books and always went to the library, and watched T.V
  • Much different, much helpful, find information faster, and convenient
  • Unsure
  • Every single day, work and at home

Grandma~

  • Playing with dolls an playing outside, taking walks
  • Much better, though do not use a lot
  • Also unsure
  • Some-times not all the time

The Most Important Amendment

The Bill of Rights. The foundation of our society of these 50 United States. They control how our country functions. Though there is one amendment that is the most important amendment that lets be ourselves. The first amendment, but why the first, why not the 3rd, 6th, or 7th amendment.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

The first amendment gives us the right of freedom, freedom of religion, freedom of press, and freedom of assembly and petition. The amendment gives us many rights and lets us be free Americans. The amendment lets us talk with freedom and print articles and write in magizines what we choose. There are so many religions, not just your own. The first amendment lets you practice what ever religion you believe in. You can also petition. Lets just say you are protesting againest the makers of “Airhead’s”, (which I hope will never happen, because Airhead’s are awesome). You have the right to petition againest the product and protest againest the company. The people of the United States are proud to be protected by the first amendment and the Bill of Rights and we should all be greatful.

The Crash Was Not A Dream

1134077819_528db2af8c.jpg      9/11… Thousands of people lost their lives that day. The day that the American Airlines Boeing 767  crashed into the North and South Towers. Do to the collision and explosions inside the towers collapsed killing the people who were trapped on higher floors and the people trying to get out, but were to late. Later of the day another plane crashed into the Pentagon and a crash in a field in Pennsylvania. That’s the day we remember. The day that broke the hearts of people around the world. The day the nightmare became a reality.

I clearly remember the day of the nightmare on America. I was still at home and I was getting ready for another day of 2nd grade. I had just come from a dentist appointment and came home before going to school. I was watching T.V and was flipping through the channels. I came across a channel and saw that the North tower of the World Trade Center of on fire. I read that a plane crashed into the North tower at 8:45am. I had a rush through my blood and was scared out of my mind. A little after 9:oo I was still watching the same channel and I actually saw when the United Flight 175 crashed into the South tower. I started to cry because of the frighting situation. I showed the channel to my dad, and he could not believe his eyes. We had just been in New York City the day before the attacks. I came to school after and saw that my class was watching the news and they saw the attacks too. After both airplanes crashed I couldn’t think of a single word to say. I was speechless, frighted, and afraid. Afraid that the next plane I get on it could be attacked I it would be my last moments ever. My parents said not to worry, but I couldn’t calm down.
At school that next year we used all of the students in the school and made a enormous flag out of sheets of paper and held the pieces in the air while singing the national anthem. Now I still am greatful for myself that I am still here, but pray for the families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks and say to President Bush, he needs to take action and prevent this from happening. The day of the worst terrorist attack in American history. The day that the people were not prepared, the day that people call for help. 9-1-1.

The day we didn’t expect.
Was the day of a major threat.

The towers fell and the lives were gone.
We mourned for the beloved gone.

We saw the planes.
But didn’t know the names.

Now we wait to see.
What the damage is to be.

Now 6 years have gone past.
Raise the ships mast.

The day of destruction and families alike.
The people we know and the people who rode the bikes.

September 11th, 2001, the day of destruction was the time of the people to unite as one. See the differences and fight the cause for the lost ones, for the loved ones, and the future brings. With the cause and effect of the people we meet. The towers stood tall and we saw them fall. The tears shead with the passing glance and the hearts broken of the mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters lost.
We will remember.

True Friends

The Meme blogs are blogs that start with a discussion and a query, you share your opinion and challenge people to answer.

My Query: “What is the most important thing you look forth in a friend?”

My response would be that the most important thing to look forth in a friend would be trust. You need to know that you can trust your friend to be there when you need them the most. You need to know that you can trust them with your secrets. They trust you in the same way you trust them. They give their trust to you to help them and not to go against them. They know that your the one that they can to for advice. You are surely the same. My friends are trustworthy and I go to them for anything. They are true friends because they are… One in a million

Make One Wish

If I got one wish for some else and not myself the list would be 100,000,000,000,000 pages long. Though, since there is only one wish per customer, it would be for my uncle and my new aunt. They had just gotten married on August 18th, and this was the happiest day of my life (Not including the day me and my brother were born). The wish I  would make is that my uncle and aunt to live “happily ever after” and never leave my life. They are the best and they are loving, caring, and have huge hearts. I love them and I hope they will be happy together. My uncle is a person who will comfort me if I’m down and so will my aunt.

The two that love, are the two to succeed. The two that love, are the two to cherish. The two that love, are the two that will help each-other. The two that love, are the two to love each-other whether it’s sunny, rainy, snowy, and 365 days a year. Those are the two that love. They comfort, they accept the differences, they accept the challenges, they accept the good, and will always know they have each-other with their family behind them… that love them as much as I do. They are my real, one in a million
